In an instant I was awake! Early one morning 4 weeks ago now, desperately trying to get myself out of bed I started reading some emails.
And here it was! After applying for the Breaking Glass Project 5 weeks ago, I had been selected out of 120 applications to go to New York with my latest work 'Vera'. I was ecstatic, so pleased and had never jumped out of bed so quickly with so much energy!
The Breaking Glass Project is a platform for 6 female choreographers to present their work in New York while also receiving a full years mentorship.
The performance is on August 9th at the Alvin Ailey Theatre - I have gratefully received sponsorship from both the English National Ballet and some very kind supporters as transport and accommodation costs were not covered.
The original 'Vera' Nancy Osbaldeston could unfortunately not make it to New York but the new cast member Crystal Costa has been working really hard with Guilherme Menezes this past month in making the role her own. She is currently busy reading the book 'Testament of Youth' by Vera Brittain as inspiration.
Just back form Perelada, Spain where we performed our last 2 performances of the Season with ENB. It’s packing time now for Belgium and New York !
